About

Photograph of Marie Veverka

Marie Veverka received her Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM), one of the Premier Oriental Medical Schools in the United States, in 2006. Since then Marie has alternated between practicing in Scottsdale, Arizona and on cruise ships around the world (her favorite being The Crystal Symphony, one of the only 6 star ships at sea).

During her study in Portland, Marie interned at the Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) where she worked together with medical doctors to help patients with severe pain disorders and complicated illnesses. Marie also interned at Hooper Acute Drug and Detox Facility and The Washington County Corrections Facility where she used acupuncture to help ease the anxiety and suffering of patients going through severe withdrawls from drugs and alcohol.

Her final year at OCOM, Marie did extensive research on using acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment for assisted conception technologies. Since then, she has worked at various fertility clinics and with Reproductive Endocrinologist throughout the valley providing treatments to fertility patients, and pre-post IVF treatments.

The Abbot of Jiashan Monastery

Marie has had the good fortune of studying with some of the top Chinese doctors in the world and has spent an extensive amount of time studying 5-element acupuncture, Classical acupuncture as well as TCM. In 2010, Marie travelled to China to study with various masters in a remote monastery in the Hunan province called the Jiashan Monastery, which is the little known birthplace of Zen Buddhism.

Please note, Marie is not a web designer and doesn't pretend to be one. However, she did manage to handbuild this little creation with html and css, which feels miraculous.
